The East Coast Main Line

17th November 1999

On the 9th of November a letter and leaflet was sent from Railtrack to residents living next to or nearby the East Coast Main Line between Welwyn Garden City and Knebworth.  This mailer discussed the plans to upgrade the ECML from two to four tracks between Digswell Junction and Woolmer Green.  This plan, part of phase four in a scheme all ready underway, will involve the construction of a second large viaduct over the Mimram Valley.  A complete remodeling of Welwyn North station.  Two new tunnels and a undisclosed upgrade / addition / rebuild to the existing small viaduct in Mardley Hill.

At the moment nothing seems to be happening with the viaduct upgrade.  So I am concentrating on the Photographic section of the site.  I will be getting some more photographs of the area later in the spring so stay tuned...........

February 2003

At last something has happened, some foliage clearing work has taken place in the Woolmer Green / Digswell area.
