The day of the tour. The fifty fund's 50031 was employed to haul the ECS into the Cross. And there were a number of other charters floating around that day.

Sadly on the final leg of the run towards Edinburgh 55019 developed a fault. Full details of which can be found on the Deltic Preservation Society's website. The loco was shut down and towed dead on the rear by 67013 all the way back to London. Although the loco could have managed the train back to London on one engine it was decided that it was in the societies best interest not to do that.
![]() | The Deltic fans look on sadly at 19 on the back of the train
But even with one engine there is no mistaking the noise of Napier.
